The stylish Elite i20 from Hyundai has been a trend-setter in India since its launch way back in August last year. Since then, the company has reportedly managed to sell over 1,50,000 units in the country. In terms of sales, the Elite i20 has been strongest performer in the B2 segment followed by Swift from Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai's Grand i10. In the premium compact segment the hatchback claims a strong 66% of the market share.
The Hyundai Elite i20 is offered in two engine options. The 1.2-litre petrol, Kappa Dual VTVT, 4-cylinder engine mated to five-speed manual transmission generates about 82bhp of power at 6000 rpm and 115Nm of torque at about 4000rpm. The diesel on the other hand gets a 1.4-litre, U2 CRDi engine mated to six-speed manual transmission that generates about 89bhp of power at 4000rpm and 220Nm of torque at 1500-2750 rpm.
This year in August, Hyundai introduced 7-inch touchscreen with Audio Video Navigation (AVN) infotainment system in Elite i20 in order to compete with the newly launched Jazz from Honda. The device comes with pre-loaded maps, suggestive keyboard, pre-saved routes and also served as rear camera display. The device with Bluetooth connectivity also allows on-screen dialling, browsing contact, streaming music and answering.
