New brochures of the Hyundai Elite i20 have surfaced on the internet with a petrol automatic variant now added to the list. Which means that the launch of the Hyundai Elite i20 petrol automatic is around the corner.
The Elite i20 automatic will be offered only with the second-to-base Magna variant to begin with and might be extended to the higher trims depending on the demand generated. If the leaked brochure is to be believed, the Hyundai Elite i20 automatic will be offered with the 1.4-litre petrol engine only. The naturally aspirated four cylinder petrol engine that is also offered with the Verna, develops 100bhp of power and 135Nm of torque and will be mated to the 4-speed torque converter unit. The i20 Magna is offered with dual front airbags only and without ABS, but, the Elite i20 AT may get ABS keeping in mind the safety concerns.
As for the feature list, you get dual-tone fabric interiors with AC vents for rear passengers. You have electrically operated wing-mirrors, all-four power windows, electrically assisted power-steering and central locking with remote. It gets a 2-DIN infotainment system with phone as well as audio streaming via Bluetooth, USB and AUX inputs and steering mounted audio controls.
With the 100bhp of power on tap, the Elite i20 AT will be a direct competitor to the Polo GT TSI and the upcoming Baleno RS and is expected to be priced between Rs 7.5 lakh to Rs 8 lakh, ex-showroom Delhi. In terms of competition, the 4-speed automatic may seem dated when compared to the CVTs offered by the Baleno and the Jazz or the dual-clutch automatics offered by Polo and the Ford Figo but considering the overall package, the Elite i20 AT would be a good proposition.
