The Creta SUV from Hyundai has recently achieved a new milestone in India with over 1 lakh unit bookings. During a recent interview, the MD of Hyundai Motor India Limited, Mr. Young Key Koo revealed that the company will export the Creta SUV to about 92 countries. By June, the company plans to ramp Creta production to about 13,000 units, out of which, 10,000 units is meant to be sold in Indian market.

The Hyundai Creta competes strongly against the Renault Duster and Maruti’s S-Cross in the Indian market. Owing to its strategic pricing, impressive performance and features, the SUV had indeed won many hearts in the country. The Creta petrol variant comes with a 1.6-litre engine mated to a 6-speed manual transmission, while the diesel variant gets a 1.4-litre unit mated to a 6-speed manual transmission and a 1.6-litre diesel engine that is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission option.

Though initially it was believed that the company shall not expand the optimally used Chennai facility, fresh updates have revealed that the company shall expand the Creta facility to about 30 per cent to meet the huge demand. The increase in production is an indication that the Creta customers can expect quicker delivery of their vehicle.

Apart from the Indian market, Hyundai has witnessed a good demand for the Creta SUV across markets like Peru and Panama, Oman, UAE, Colombia, Costa Rica, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Nigeria and Morocco. Post the recent budget announcement, Hyundai India has hiked the Creta prices by about Rs 26,000 to about Rs 65,000 for the top-end trim. The petrol trims are priced between Rs 8.69 lakh – Rs 11.29 lakh, while the diesel ranges between Rs 9.56 – Rs 13.8 lakh.
