The 2018 Hyundai Elite i20 has been spotted undergoing trials in Tamil Nadu. With heavy camouflage on the front and rear bumper, we expect the new car to get a design overhaul.
Earlier, Hyundai had restricted its updates to new dual-tone paint schemes and a new infotainment system for the previous facelift, but the changes to 2018 model seem to be more comprehensive. We expect the front and rear bumpers to get an overhaul, with redesigned headlamps and tail lamps. The 16-inch alloy wheels are the only bits that are clearly visible, and get a new diamond cut design. Even the interior was covered up, hinting at a new layout or design for the cabin.
We do not expect any updates under the hood. The Elite i20 is offered with either a 1.2-litre petrol or a 1.4-litre diesel unit. The petrol unit is available with either a five-speed manual or a four-speed automatic gearbox, while the option for diesel buyers is restricted to a six-speed manual unit.
We expect the 2018 Hyundai Elite i20 to go on sale no sooner than early 2018, as the facelift was launched here just a couple of months ago. The Elite i20 competes with premium B-segment hatchbacks like the Honda Jazz, Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Fiat Punto Abarth and the Volkswagen Polo.
