Hyundai’s plans to launch a sub-compact car to compete with Maruti Alto have always been subject of discussion. Now here is the official confirmation on the same. “"It is on course... The development is going on in (South) Korea....," HMI Director (Sales and Marketing) Arvind Saxena said. Hyundai is India’s second largest car manufacturer and already leads the A segment with its models like Santro and i10. It recently launched the facelifted model Next Gen i10 in the country.

Saxena confirmed that its plans for sub-compact car are “well-progressing” and going “as per the plan.” However he declined to comment on the timeline of the launch. The car will be placed below Hyundai’s flagship model Santro and is expected to be priced around Rs. 3 lakh.

Currently, Hyundai is busy with its plans to bring its new SUV model Santa Fe in India which is expected to be launched next month. Hyundai CEO HW Park also confirmed earlier that the company intends to launch 2-3 models every year to keep up the high tone in the Indian market.
