2011 will be yet another sizzling auto year with slew of launches from various auto makers. One of the largest attractions in the small car segment will be Honda’s small car and Toyota Etios. Both the models are expected in the first quarter of 2011. Honda displayed its small car model at the Delhi Auto Expo 2010. The model will have high level of localisation up to 80 percent to keep the cost competitive.
Honda Jazz has not been able to create the small car magic for Honda owing to its hefty price tag. Honda will introduce its new small car but with a cheaper price which will nevertheless fall in the premium small car segment only. The price may fall in the band of Rs. 4-5 lakh and will compete with models like new Toyota Etios, VW Polo, Maruti Suzuki Swift and Hyundai Getz.
Honda will study the market response and will also make India as its exports base for small car if there is a favourable turn of events.
