Ahead of its official launch in the country in next two weeks, reports indicate that the Honda WR-V crossover will be offered in two trims – S and VX. The new model from the Japanese automaker will carry forward the existing engine options from the Jazz hatchback. The two variants will be available in petrol as well as diesel engine options.
Honda WR-V will carry certain body panels and feature bits from the Jazz hatchback except for magic seats, auto headlamps and rain sensing wipers. In addition to basics, the new model will offer LED daytime running lights which are integrated into the headlamps, while features like touchscreen infotainment system, front centre armrest, 16-inch alloy wheels, and front centre armrest and roof rails will be limited to top-spec trim. The top-end diesel will additionally get cruise control and keyless go function. As for safety, dual airbags and ABS has been offered as standard.
In terms of dimensions, the upcoming WR-V from Honda will be larger as well as taller than the Jazz hatchback. Under the hood, the crossover will be powered by a 1.2-litre i-VTEC petrol engine which generates 89bhp of power, while the diesel variant gets a 1.5-litre engine i-DTEC engine that generates 99bhp of power. The petrol variant comes mated to a five-speed manual transmission, while the diesel version comes mated to a six-speed manual transmission.
Post launch it will emerge as a strong competitor against the likes of Hyundai i20 Active, Maruti Vitara Brezza and the Ford EcoSport in India. The new model will also help the Japanese automaker further strengthen its foothold in the Indian market. Honda will launch the WR-V in Indian on March 16 this year.
