Honda has announced that the production of the new Acura NSX supercar will commence towards the end of next month. The company will produce the new car at a facility in Ohio, America, with the deliveries starting in May.
This is the first time that the NSX will be built outside of Japan. Honda has constructed a small facility employing 100 people in US specifically for this car. Along with the robots for a few critical operations, the place has the capacity to produce 800 examples of the Acura NSX every year, taking about 14 hours for each unit.
The Acura NXS is powered by a 3.6-litre V6 engine producing 560bhp, coupled with three electric motors and AWD. The car carries a price tag of USD 1,56,000 (Rs 1.04 crore) and can be a lot higher with the optional accessories.
The NSX will be dispatched to the global markets from the new facility and there is a possibility that the car will carry the Honda badge soon. There are no plans of the NSX reaching our shores any time soon, but we are keeping our fingers crossed.
