      Honda launches new City sedan in Indonesia

      After receiving overwhelming response in India and Malaysia for new City sedan, Honda is now eyeing Indonesian market. Honda has launched the new City sedan in Indonesia at a starting price of 277 million Rupiah, equal to Rs 14.58 lakh for the basic S trim. Apart from basic S version, new City is available in two more trims-E and ES. S and E models are offered in manual as well as CVT variants. S CVT is priced at Rp 287 million (Rs 15.10 lakh), E MT is available for Rp 290 million (Rs 15.26 lakh), E CVT is tagged at Rp 301 million (Rs 15.84 lakh) and top-of-the-line trim, ES is available for Rp 321 million (Rs 16.89 lakh).

       

      Recently, the company also launched new City sedan in Nepal at Rs 21.40 lakh for the base model and Australia at a starting price of AUD 15,990 (Rs 9.05 lakh). Honda has inducted only the petrol variant in Indonesia powered by 1.5 litre SOHC i-VTEC engine. The petrol engine is good for 120 PS at 6,600 RPM and 14.8 kg.m at 4,600 RPM.

      Indonesia-spec City is equipped well with preeminent safety features like dual front airbags, City i-type ES gets additional side and side curtain airbags for the driver and passengers. Other vital safety features including ABS+EBD+ BrakeAssist (BA), Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA), Hill Start Assist (HSA) and Emergency Stop Signal (ESS) are also offered on the sedan.

       

      Honda has equipped a new feature in the Indonesia bound City called Brake Override System (BOS). BOS is a smart braking system technology that identifies the need to apply brake automatically when foot is stepped on brake pedals and gas at the same time.

       

      Customers can choose between five colour options- White Orchid Pearl, Crystal Black Pearl, Alabaster Silver Metallic, Modern Steel Metallic, and Golden Brown Metallic. Golden Brown Metallic is a new colour option. Honda received an influx of bookings for new sedan in India and Malaysia. Launched in the month of March in Malaysia, the vehicle has roped in around 10,000 bookings within a month of its launch. Honda introduced new City sedan in India in January this year in petrol and diesel variants. Continuing its upward sales trend for the third consecutive month in domestic market, City posted sales of 9,518 units in the month of March 2014.
