After Honda launched its BR-V in Delhi yesterday, Mumbai got its chance to witness the launch today at Rs 8.75 lakh (ex-showroom, Navi Mumbai). This vehicle will compete with the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Renault Duster and Nissan Terrano.
Honda’s seven-seater compact SUV is based on the Mobilio but uses a longer wheelbase. The overall SUV looks of the BR-V is lent by the butch designing combined with the roof rails, plastic cladding and a differently designed alloy wheel. Powering this Honda SUV are the two engine options that go into the Mobilio. The 1.5-litre petrol mill makes 118bhp and 145Nm of torque, while the same capacity diesel motor produces 100bhp and 200Nm of torque. Both engines get a six-speed manual transmission, and the petrol gets the added convenience of a CVT as an option.
Buyers can get to opt from four variants called E, S, V and VX. To give you an idea, the E version gets tilt steering, roof rails, power windows, projector head lamps and dual airbags plus ABS (diesel) as standard. Top it off with the VX model that combines push-button start, electrically foldable wing mirrors, leather seats, multi-information display, climate control with rear AC vents and a 2-Din music system.
