Honda is ready to compete in the small car segment from today onwards. The new Honda Jazz is priced at Rs. 6.5 lakh and above (ex-showroom) which will makes it the costliest small car on the Indian roads, considering Skoda Fabia sums up at Rs. 7 lakh on road. Jazz will have 1.2L i-VTEC engine which has been especially designed for the Indian roads. The engine is more powerful than Maruti’s K-series engine that marks its presence in its latest models like A-Star and Ritz. The car will deliver a mileage of 16 kmpl which makes its competitive with other cars in the same segment. The car has the looks of a multi-purpose vehicle but it’s actually a hatchback.

Honda has introduced its first small car in India as the company is ready to reverse the slump in its sales. Small car sales account for nearly 73 percent of the total cars sales in the country. If the dealers are to be believed, the new Honda Jazz car will give the B and C segment cars a run for their money. Two months ago, Tata launched its model Nano with a bang but Honda Jazz is entering the Indian roads with hardly a whimper. Although there is no launch fanfare by the company, the dealer showrooms are already abuzz with the inquiries pouring in from Tuesday itself. Dealers are extremely happy with the response received by the car especially when the sales have not been so good since past few months.
