      Honda is considering more small cars for India

      Honda Cars India is bullish about the Indian market; more so when it comes to compact cars. And with India being one Honda’s strongest markets, the plan to rake in higher numbers with products that have mass appeal.

      Katsushi Inoue, Honda India Cars CEO was quoted as saying that he believes the demand for cars in India will be very strong and in the in the long run, the market is bound to grow. “Market growth here is driven by the younger generation. I believe there should be steady growth. I am quite positive,” he said.

      When speaking about developing India-specific products, Inoue said, “In order to understand the Indian market movement (better), we set up a completely new R&D facility in Greater Noida in November. The building has just been completed and we are going to reinforce the team. We are going to increase the number of associates so that we can get to know the Indian station better. Their job is sensing the market trend and also development of new models.”

      The small car segment is one category that Honda wants to get into to increase its sales numbers. Inoue further added, “For us at Honda, the Indian market is really big and growing. This is the most important market for Honda. So our priority, whatever R&D we do is for India.”
