      Honda hikes car prices by about Rs. 60,000 in India

      Reasons like rising input cost and expiry of reduced excise duty concessions has forced Honda Cars India to hike the prices of its vehicles by up to Rs. 60,000. With the fresh hike in prices, the entry level hatchback Brio has been hiked by about Rs. 15,000 to Rs. 18,000, whereas the popular compact sedan Amaze in petrol shall cost an additional Rs. 19,000 to Rs. 23,000. The diesel trim prices have been hiked by about Rs 23,000-Rs 26,000. The company's popular trim City sedan in petrol now shall cost an additional Rs. 33,000 to Rs. 46,000, whereas the diesel is expensive by about of Rs 37,000 to Rs 48,000.

      In the Honda's premium sports utility vehicle segment the CR-V SUV costs about Rs. 60,000. Last year the UPA government had announced extension in duty concession by about 6 months that came to end on December 31st, 2014. The excise duty on cut in past were at - 8 per cent from 12 per cent on small cars, motorcycles, scooters and commercial vehicles, 24 per cent from 30 per cent for SUV's, 20 per cent from 24 per cent for mid-sized cars and 24 per cent from 27 per cent for large cars.
