Honda Motorcycles and Scooters India has introduced its latest 100 cc Dream Neo motorcycle in Mumbai with an aggressive price tag of Rs. 46,140 (ex-showroom, Mumbai). Reportedly, the new model undercuts the price of company's 110 cc commuter Dream Yuga by almost Rs. 2000, which makes it the Japanese company's cheapest offering in the two-wheeler space of the Indian auto market. With the launch of a new model, the auto maker is looking ahead to pull in some decent volumes, despite of dwindling conditions of the market.
Expressing his views at the launch ceremony, the Vice President (Sales & Marketing) for Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Private Limited, Y. S. Guleria was quoted as saying, “DREAM NEO is Honda’s next big leap towards creating deep inroads into the Indian commuter segment. Our newly opened Technical centre comprising of R&D, Engineering, Purchase & Quality team, overcame the challenge of improving Mileage and meeting the competitive price point. Backed by our new product launches & network expansion, Honda aims to grow over 150 per cent in 100-110cc motorcycle segment YoY. Overall, we are confident of customer demand for Honda 2Wheelers and eye 43 per cent growth with 39.3 lac unit sales in FY’14.”
It must be noted that during last year, the auto maker delivered more than one million motorcycles and is now looking ahead to increase the figures with the launch of new Dream Neo. In order to lure a large number of buyers, the two-wheeler maker has introduced six colour options with its newly launched model, namely Black and Red Stripe, Black with Violet Stripes, Force Silver Metallic, Monsoon Grey Metallic, Midnight Blue Metallic and Alpha Red Metallic
On the similar lines, the Regional Sales Head (West), Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Private Limited, Shreenath Kamlapurker commented, “Creating a new paradigm in mass mobility, DREAM NEO is Honda’s Most Affordable and Most Fuel Efficient 2Wheeler ever in India. Coming to the technical specifications of the model, Dream Neo has been equipped with a 110 cc engine, which according to company claims delivers an astounding mileage of 74 kmpl. Along with a decent fuel economy, this performance oriented engine churns out a maximum power of 8.2 bhp with a highest torque of 8.6 Nm.
