The current-gen Honda Civic Type R is no longer in production. While this may come across as bad news for fans of the popular hot hatch, Honda has assured that an all-new generation of the Civic Type R will be launched later this year.

To commemorate the last of the outgoing Civic Type R, Honda has unleashed the Black Edition which accounts for the last ever 100 units to roll off the production line.

As one would expect, the Black Edition features a predominantly black interior with red accents while the exterior is differentiated from the standard version by red rear wing end plates on the spoiler.

Given that the pricing is based on the existing GT model, Honda is expecting the Black Edition to sell out quickly. With production of the current Civic Type R at Honda’s factory in Swindon now finished, the factory is gearing up for the next-gen Civic which goes on sale in March. Meanwhile, the new Civic Type R is expected to hit the showrooms in the latter half of this year.
