According to reports, HCIL sold some 51,478 units during the three quarters of of 2012-13 fiscal, as compared to sales of 32,771 units in the corresponding period of 2011-12 financial year. Further, it has been revealed that the Japanese passenger car maker witnessed an astounding surge of 296 per cent in unit sales, when it sold some 4,242 vehicles during December month (2012) as compared to the sales recorded in the same month of 2011.

HCIL registered sales of 1,442 units of Honda City mid-level saloon, 365 units of Honda Jazz premium hatchback, 79 units of Honda Accord premium executive saloon and 70 units of Civic premium sedan between April and December months of 2012.

The Japanese automotive giant managed an eye-popping growth in the vehicle sales recorded by it in local auto market during 2012. The 2012-13 fiscal has been a mixed bag for various auto makers operating in the Indian auto market, which for several months fought off slackening sales figures and poor demand for vehicles among local consumers. The 57 per cent growth is an incredible effort on part of Honda and has been largely fuelled by modest sales of its Brio premium hatch in the country.
