      Honda Cars India posts growth of 35 per cent in 2012-13 fiscal

      Honda Cars India Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Japanese auto maker Honda Motor Co., has reported an annual growth of 35 per cent in its sales volume, during 2012-13 fiscal in the domestic auto market. The company announced its impressive sales in Mumbai on April 2, 2013.

      As per reports, Honda Cars India Limited witnessed sales of 73,483 units between the period April 2012 and March 2013. In contrast, the company managed to sell just 54,427 units in the same year-ago period. However, the Japanese auto maker suffered a drop during the March month of 2013 calendar year. Last month, the company sold just 10,044 units as against sales of 11,016 unitsrecorded in March 2012.

      Expressing his views on the April 2012 to March 2013 sales witnessed by th company in Indian auto market, Jnaneswar Sen, Senior Vice President, Sales and Marketing, Honda Cars India Limited, was quoted as saying, “We are delighted to witness a remarkable growth of 35 per cent over last year although the market environment has been quite tough. Strong demand for Honda Brio and Honda City has been instrumental in achieving this success. The launch of Amaze this month will be a significant step in Honda’s strategy to begin a new phase of growth for our business in Indian market. We expect huge growth potential in tier 2 & tier 3 markets with this car and therefore we have been expanding our sales network to reach out to newer cities and markets.”

      During March, Honda Cars India Limited sold 3917, 3432, 113 and 30 units of its Brio, City, Accord and CR-V models, respectively. Besides, the company despatched 2,552 units of the yet-to-be launched sedan Amaze. Further, the Japanese car maker shipped some 2,622 units overseas, during the 2012-13 financial year.

      Honda Cars India Limited has also enhanced its pan-Indian sales and distribution network to 150 facilities in 97 cities, during the 2012–13 fiscal. Prior to that, the company had 135 facilities in 83 cities.
