Honda cars India has announced its plans to invest Rs. 380 Crore for expansion of production capacity at its Tapukara plant located in dist. Alwar, Rajasthan. Currently the plant produces about 1,20,000 units annually to about 1,80,000 units annually. The changes are likely to be effective sometime by mid-2016. With the fresh developments, about 600 employment opportunities are likely to generated.
Including the 120,000-unit capacity of the 1st plant in Greater Noida, the expansion of 2nd plant will increase HCIL’s overall annual production capacity from the current 240,000 units to about 300,000 units. Honda being one of the fastest growing automobile company in India, it has reportedly witnessed 44% growth in its domestic sales during the period April 2014 - Feb 2015 with 166,366 units as against 115,913 units noted in the corresponding period in FY 2013 -14. The company has also introduced new models like Amaze, 4th Generation City and Mobilio that has helped the brand to further strengthen its presence in the country.
Honda Cars India Limited's 2nd car manufacturing plant, located in Tapukara has reportedly started assembly operations in February 2014, with annual production capacity of about 120,000 units. Various functions like forging, casting, stamping, power-train components production, welding, painting, resin molding, engine assembly, and frame assembly as well as an engine testing shall be conducted at the facility. By achieving the highest levels of automation and use of latest equipment, the company achieves highest product quality, ergonomics, thereby also enhancing production efficiency and safety of each operation performed at the plant.
