Honda Cars India Ltd (HCIL) has officially announced that it shall voluntarily replace Driver Side Airbag inflators of about 57,676 vehicles including previous generation of City, Jazz and Civic as part of Honda’s preventive global recall campaign concerning Air Bag inflators. The replacement would reportedly be carried out free of cost at HCIL dealerships across India in a phased manner that would start from 20th February 2016. Affected vehicle customers shall receive communication directly from the company.
Customers who want to check whether their car will be covered under this campaign need tp submitting their 17 character alpha-numeric Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) on the special microsite which has been created on the company’s website (www.hondacarindia.com). In terms of numbers about 49,572 units of City manufactured between Jan 2013 – June 2013 have been affected, 7,504 units of Jazz manufactured from February 2012 – February 2013 have been affected and about 600 units of Civic manufactured from January 2012 – August 2012 have been affected.
