Honda Cars India Limited has recently added six new variants in the line up of its much renowned Brio hatchback. The of late models introduced by the auto maker are packed with new features, which will surely help the company in targeting a new segment of buyers. Advancements like driver seat height adjuster, power adjustable outside rear view mirrors, front as well as rear mud guards and rear wind shield defogger have been offered within the new models. The new models of Brio are also packed with a number of industry leading safety features like Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS), dual SRS front airbags and Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD), among others.
The new variants offered by Honda are named as EMT, EXMT, SMT, VMT, VXMT and VXAT. Reportedly, all these models are offered to the Indian buyers within a price tag of Rs. 4.12 lakh and Rs. 6.12 lakh. Besides introduction of new models, the auto maker has also flagged 'Honda Care Maintenance Package' through which it will provide customers the advantages of free periodic maintenance service for two years or by up to 40,000 kilometres, which so ever comes first.
The Senior Vice-President (Marketing and Sales) at Honda Cars India, Jnaneswar Sen, was quoted as saying, “Brio is a significant model for Honda in India as the car added more than 32,000 customers in the last fiscal. It is our endeavour to study customers' needs and aspirations and introduce features that enhance the overall ownership experience.”
Although the auto maker has offered new variants in the Brio series, the technical configuration of all the models have been kept same. The Brio hatchback comes equipped with a 1.2 litre i-VTEC engine, which has the potential to belt out a maximum power of 87 bhp at 6000 rpm along with a highest torque of 110 Nm at 4,500 rpm. In order to further accelerate the performance of this engine, it has been mated to a five-speed transmission system, which offers smooth shifts between the gears. It must be noted that although the power output of Brio hatch is fairly well, it does not lag on the grounds of fuel efficiency. The cute little hatchback covers a distance of 16.5 kmpl in the automatic transmission, whereas the figures reach 19.4 kmpl for the manual gearbox model.
On the move of addition of new variants in Brio's line-up, few industry experts are of a view that Honda India is following the similar trend adopted by country's largest auto maker, Maruti Suzuki. With the addition of new variants in Brio's line-up, the auto maker has increased the number of features and options for a price sensitive Indian buyer.
