The Brio hatchback is Honda's sole offering in the entry-level small car segment in India and the upcoming automatic model will feature a petrol engine. From the primary reports, the latest offering from the Japanese auto maker's stable will hold a 1.2 litre iVTEC petrol powertrain, which will be mated to a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) system. However, the inclusion of a diesel variant would have made things much more interesting due to the current market trend, when most of the buyers are opting for diesel instead of petrol run models. The CVT system will give the Brio an enhanced driving dynamics and ease of the tension during vicious traffic jams, making the vehicle a perfect option for Indian roads.

Reportedly, Honda already has an automatic Brio model in the Indonesian car market and Indian buyers will be eagerly following the proceedings regarding the car's arrival at the Indian shores.

The latest product from Honda may also be cited as the company's desperate bid to boost its sales in the small car segment in the country, which has always outpaced the other segments in terms of demand and vehicle sales. The automatic Brio will be targeted at the daily office going population who look towards small, fuel efficient and easy-to-ride options in the auto market and the latest Brio could be a perfect solution to heed their needs
