Honda has launched the BR-V crossover for the Indonesian market at IDR 226.5 million (Rs 10.93 lakh). It was first showcased as a concept at the 2015 Indonesia International Motor Show and Indonesia is the first country to get the production version. The Honda BR-V will be launched in India by mid-2016.

The BR-V stands for Bold Runabout Vehicle and is based on the Honda Mobilio or stretched Brio platform. The vehicle stands tall with a high ground clearance and wider front and rear tracks than the Mobilio. The fascia sports a wide chrome grille, projector headlamps, round fog lamps with a chrome ring, a large air dam and chiseled bumper with silver accent. The silhouette looks similar to the Mobilio, but the BR-V gets a sportier character thanks to the larger alloy wheels, body cladding and roof rails. At the rear, the registration plate gets a chrome surround and the wrap-around tail lamps are restyled for a better appeal.

This seven-seater Honda also gets an updated interior compared to the Mobilio, Amaze and the Brio. The dashboard is closer in design to the Honda City and has a dual tone finish. It features a touchscreen infotainment system with navigation and rear parking camera display. On the safety front, the Honda BR-V gets dual front airbags, ABS, EBD, and Hill Start Assist.

For the Indonesian market, the Honda BR-V will be offered only with the 1.5-litre four-cylinder i-VTEC mill (120bhp, 145Nm). Transmission options include a six-speed manual and a CVT transmission. In India however, there will be no automatic to begin with. But, the BR-V will get a 1.5-litre diesel mill mated to a 6-speed manual in addition to the petrol manual from the Indonesian version. Honda's new compact SUV will be locally produced in India and will have a sub-10 lakh starting price. It will compete against the Hyundai Creta and the Renault Duster.

The variant-wise pricing for the Honda BR-V in Indonesia is as follows -

      Honda BR-V S MT – IDR 226,500,000 (or INR 10.93 lakh)
      Honda BR-V E MT – IDR 236,500,000 (or INR 11.42 lakh)
