Honda Cars India Limited (HCIL), a wholly owned subsidiary of the Japanese multinational auto major Honda Motor Company, could perhaps launch its Amaze entry level compact sedan in the domestic market on April 18, 2013, according to industry sources. The upcoming Honda Amaze is expected to come powered with its critically acclaimed Earth Dreams i-DTEC diesel power-mill. As per reports, the entry level Amaze sedan is nothing but an extended version the Honda Brio hatchback, just like the successful duo of Maruti Suzuki Swift and Swift DZire models.
Coming to under-the-hood specifications of upcoming Honda Amaze, the entry level sedan is expected to come in both petrol and diesel powered models in the country. The Amaze petrol model will be powered with a 1.2 litre engine, which belts out a peak output power of 88 bhp and maximum torque delivery around 110 Nm. On the other hand, the Amaze diesel will come assimilated with the critically acclaimed and much awaited 1.5 litre turbocharged Earth Dreams i-DTEC powertrain, which could churn out a highest output power close to 90 bhp.
The Honda Amaze entry level compact sedan will be pitched in a stiff face off against the likes of Maruti Suzuki Swift DZire, Ford Classic, Tata Indigo eCS, Mahindra Verito and the recently launched Chevrolet Sail, amongst others in the domestic market. Evidently, Amaze is one of the most awaited new model launches for this year and is expected to be taking the entire competition by storm, upon its arrival on Indian turf. The Honda Amaze sedan is anticipated to carry introductory price tags within a range of Rs. 5.5 to 7.5 lakhs in the domestic passenger car market.
