Honda Cars India Limited, the domestic division of Japanese auto maker, seems all set to introduce its much awaited Amaze sedan in the Indian auto market any time soon. According to sources, the auto company will be introducing its flagship model on April 16, 2013 in the country. The model will feature Honda’s first diesel engine in India, which is said to be specially designed for the domestic buyers. Expressing his views on the launch of a new model, the Senior Vice President (Marketing and Sales) for Honda Cars India, Jnaneshwar Sen said, “The newly developed iDTEC engine belongs to the new generation powertrain technology Earth Dreams Technology that realises both excellent driving performance and fuel economy at a high level. Amaze will be the first car from Honda to sport this new diesel engine. We feel that the contemporary style of Amaze and all the core values of Honda (durability, quality and reliability) will appeal to the growing base of entry level sedan customers.”

Interestingly, before the launch of the sedan, potential buyers can book Honda Amaze from the authorised dealerships of the company by paying a token money of just Rs. 10,000. It must be noted that Honda India has not officially declared the actual price and other details of the model yet. According to sources, the upcoming sedan will be much longer than its hatch version and will feature a plenty of space at interiors. Auto analysts believe that after its launch in the Indian auto market, the model will deliver a stiff competition to Maruti Suzuki DZire, Tata Indigo eCs, Toyota Etios and Mahindra Verito, among others.

In order to lure a number of buyers, 2013 Amaze sedan will be offered in both petrol and diesel variants. The petrol guise will come equipped with a 1.2 litre engine, whereas its diesel sibling will feature the 1.5 litre oil burner. The Brio-based entry level saloon is anticipated to set new heights in terms of performance and engineering in its respective segment. Coming to the designing of the model, the upcoming sedan will feature a number of tweaks, which are expected to strike right chords with hearts of domestic audience. The key highlights expected to be flaunted within the 2013 Amaze sedan will be the new grille, designed alloy wheels and fog lamps, among others.

Although the model will be placed in the entry level sedan segment, it will come equipped with a number of security features, which will add to the safety of passengers. Some of the key highlights of the same will be Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), dual airbags and Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD), which are hardly seen in any of the same segment models at this price. With the launch of a new model in the market, Honda India is planning to boost its sales in the muted auto market and regain its lost grounds. Interestingly, the upcoming Amaze will be the most economical sedan from Honda India, which will mark its entry among the Indian auto aficionados.
