Honda India seems to be on a roll, the company has been posting positive sales since the start of this year on the back of its new City sedan and compact sedan Amaze. Considering the current market scenario, it is commendable to be able to report growth in sales every month. ‘You reap what you sow’ fits well on Honda Brio hatchback, launched in 2011, Honda struck gold with Brio hatchback which became the base for Amaze and now the company is all set to tap into MPV segment with its first ever MPV for India, Mobilio that underpins Brio.
Honda unveiled Mobilio at the 2014 Auto Expo and it is being speculated that the MPV could be officially launched in domestic market during July. Last fiscal MPV segment witnessed a slight slump in sales after an initial spark, however Honda is confident that Mobilio will give various reasons to buyers to change their mind. Mobilio will be juxtaposed to the likes of Ertiga, Enjoy and vehicle’s high end version is said to be rivaling Innova.
Being from the stable of Honda, the MPV promises to offer uber style, unmatched design and segment best features. Flaunting a length of 4.4 meters, Mobilio is expected to come with capacious cabin, the seven seat, three row layout MPV vows to proffer a spacious third row unlike other vehicles in its segment. Powering Mobilio will be the efficient 1.5 litre petrol and diesel motors capable of returning high fuel economy of 18 kmpl and 25.8 kmpl respectively.
Trial production of the MPV has already begun at Honda’s Greater Noida facility. Since the vehicle is conceived on Brio/Amaze platform, localisation will not be a big issue for Honda. This would also help to keep the price under affordable limit, making it a viable option for customers in India. Honda Mobilio is also visible on the company’s official India website.
