Hero MotoCorp, the renowned two-wheeler company, has decided to launch a new scooter with the name Duet. The company had showcased models like Dash, Zir and Dare range of scooters at 2014 Delhi Auto Expo, but decided to launch the Duet. This was mainly because of the fact that it was not a biennial event, and the scooter was not ready for showcasing at that moment.
The Hero Duet, however, is almost ready now and will compete against the market leader, Activa. The scooter has a unisex approach and as a result is expected to rope in more customers. A new platform has been used for developing the scooter with a 110 cc engine. The engine might or might not be borrowed from the Maestro. The scooter has been ideally designed so that it appeals to both the genders, alike. However, one thing that sets the Duet apart from Maestro and Pleasure is that the new scooter will have an all-metal body.
Hero MotoCorp has shown a strategy change and started introducing more scooters. This change is mainly due to the immense potential the segment holds in India. The company is looking forward to have an array of scooters in its line-up as soon as possible. In fact, the company is looking forward to launch a few scooters ahead of its bikes. Duet might hit the markets as early as the second quarter of the calendar.
