Head Honchos from Reliance India Limited have been known for their fancy set of wheels. This time around Mukesh Ambani from Reliance Industries Limited has invested over Rs. 8 Crores in a high-end armored 7-series vehicle. Interestingly, the Tardeo Regional Transport Office has reported received its highest registration fee of about Rs. 1.6 Crore. The RTO office collects about 20% of the vehicle price for a high end variant.
As stated to NDTV an official from RTO was quoted as saying, “The car is a regular BMW 760i which costs Rs 1.9 crore on road. But as per Mr Ambani's Z-category security requirement, it was armored by BMW Germany. Since the import duty on armored cars is 300%, the cost of the car ballooned to Rs. 8.5 crore, hence the high registration cost.” The vehicle has been designed at BMW facility in Germany and is designed to handle any sudden attack on the vehicle.
