Wasting hours in traffic snarls can indeed be frustrating. As a matter of added convenience the Haryana Government has given a go ahead for bike taxis to ply on city roads. An agency named ‘Baxi’ owned by the Gurgaon based company named 74 BC Technologies Private Limited are the first ones to get permission for this globally popular motorcycle taxi concept.

The innovative initiative is the brainchild of IIT-Delhi alumnus Ashutosh Johri and Manu Rana. With around 100 low cost motorcycles to begin with, the service would start by the end of this month. A regular trip from Sikanderpur to Cyber Hub could cost just around Rs. 25. Customers can avail this service to and fro from offices, residential areas, metro and bus stations.

With the new move, Haryana indeed becomes the second state after Goa to allow the use of motorcycles as Taxis after Goa. The riders would be trained on hygyne, safety, etiquettes and make ride comfortable for passengers. Customers would also be provided with helmets and hair nets. Initially, you can pick a bike ride from government allocated stands, while later Android based apps would also be introduced. Spotting a Baxi rider would be easy as they would be in uniforms for easy identification.
