Premium and luxury bike manufacturer Harley Davidson opened its headquarters in India this week. “The establishment of Harley-Davidson India’s permanent headquarters marks an important milestone for us. With bookings now open, we are looking forward to opening our showrooms and beginning deliveries starting next month, and initiating a new era of motorcycling in India,” said Timothy J Roemer, US Ambassador to India. He was the guest of honour at the event.
Harley Davidson has already started booking for its models from April 20th and now it has formally inaugurated its headquarters in Gurgaon. The company has been seriously considering expanding in the Indian market and now has begun to put a firm footing the fast developing market for premium bikes.
Harley Davidson will sell 12 models in India initially that will be priced between Rs 6.95 lakh and Rs 34.95 lakh (ex-showroom New Delhi) and will start delivery of the motorcycles from June. Harley Davidson bikes are cruisers even though they are premium bikes. Its competitor bikes in the same price band are mostly sporty bikes from Yamaha, Hayabusa, Suzuki etc.
