Mahindra and Mahindra (M&M) Limited, the country's favourite Utility Vehicle (UV) maker, is on cloud nine as its baby cheetah, the XUV500 Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) has grown older by a year. The immensely popular and company's most expensive product till date was launched in the domestic market in September 2011 and since, then has stormed its way into the hearts of Indian SUV enthusiasts.

The aggressively priced XUV500 SUV worked into a different kind of energy in the Indian SUV market and instantly, lured away the buyers of the segment leader Tata Safari. Reportedly, so far M&M has delivered some 35,000 units of the XUV500 vehicle in the Indian market that underlines its climb to stardom within one year. Further, the Indian UV maker has already received another 10,000 plus bookings of the XUV500 and is positive that the SUV will scale new heights in the coming year.

The Mahindra XUV500 SUV has been assimilated with a 2.2 litre mHawk diesel powertrain that churns out peak power of 140 bhp at just 3,750 rpm and a maximum torque delivery of 330 Nm at as low as 1600-2800 rpm. The inspiringly low rpm power-torque output performance gives the XUV500 the speed and agility of a Cheetah to take on any other SUV in the market. An interesting contest is going to take place between the Mahindra XUV500 and a product from the company's foremost rival Tata Motors - the Safari Storme SUV, which will see the Indian market launch on October 16, 2012.

M&M has designed the XUV500 as a globally viable product dedicated at both the domestic as well as international markets. The India's leading UV maker has already commenced the exports of the XUV500 to the auto markets of South Africa and Australia, besides the company already sells some 100-200 units every month outside the country. M&M is currently evaluating the possibility of the XUV500 SUV's launch in the car markets of China, Russia, Latin America, South America countries like Chile and Argentina along with several European markets.
