The SUV range from Skoda will expand this year with the arrival of the Vision X concept. Its a new conpact urban SUV and will slot in below the Karoq in their official lineup and take on the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Nissan Qashaqi and the Renault/Dacia Duster.

The Skoda family look on the SUV is unmistakeable thanks to the moustache grille, slit-like headlamps and of course, that two piece rear-end with the wedge-like signature Skoda tail lamps.

Now the bit that makes the Vision X interesting is its powertrain. Given its urban leanings, Skoda has decided to power it through a hybrid system that combines CNG with electric motors. There is a 1.5-litre petrol/CNG compatible four-cylinder engine producing 128bhp/200Nm and driving the front wheels. At the rear is an electric motor powered by a 48kWh battery that, when needed and activated, provides AWD.
Thanks to this kind of setup the car can run as FWD, RWD or AWD. The front-wheel drive system is standard while rear-wheel drive mode is used when the car is travelling on pure electric power but currently, it only has a range of two kilometers. The concept car is 4.2-meters long and has a wheelbase of 2.6-meters.

Adding some new age funkiness, the concept also comes with two electric skateboards, helmets and a drone to film the Endeavour on the boards.
Now here is the thing. We already know that the next SUV from Skoda will be the Kamiq which has been spotted sans camouflage in China. In all probability, the Vision X is the concept car of the China spec Kamiq.
