      Geneva 2017: Range Rover Velar showcased

      Range Rover unveiled the new Velar at the ongoing Geneva Motor Show. The new model comes forth as the fourth model from the Range Rover family that has been positioned between the positioned between the Range Rover Evoque and the Range Rovar Sport models. The SUV has been showcased ahead of its official launch in the European markets sometime by mid this year.

      Velar front

      The new Range Rover Velar has its own distinctive charm as the rest of its siblings. The front gets a dominant bold grille that sets the tone for Velar’s design language and the Matrix-Laser LED lights that gives it a sporty appeal. The SUV gets copper detailing on the bonnet vents, front bumper blades and side vents. For the first time, the new model also comes with Flush door handles that gives it a striking clean, uninterrupted form. Inside, the Velar gets Kvadrat premium textile that makes use of wool-blend cloth as an alternative to leather, moreover, it comes with a Touch Pro Duo system that offers two high-definition touchscreens.

      The Tange Rover Velar’s entry-level model in India is expected to get 247bhp generating and 365Nm of torque producing petrol engine from the Jaguar XE along with the 237bhp Ingenium diesel that develops 500Nm of torque. The new model is also expected to offer a 3.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine that develops 295bhp of power and a powerful 700Nm of torque – one of the highest in its class. The Indian market might also get a 3.0-litre supercharged petrol V6 option that develops 385bhp of power and 450Nm of torque. The powerful engines will come mated to eight-speed automatic gearboxes and drive all-four wheels through the highly efficient torque-on demand-systems.
