General Motors India, the domestic arm of American auto maker, has planned to increase its dealership network and servicing centres all over the country. Reportedly, GM is looking ahead to take the count of its outlets to 300 with a same number of servicing units before the end of this fiscal from the present 279 sales showrooms and 272 centres for servicing. Priority will be paid to tier II and tier III cities, wherein the demand for cars is increasing owing to the surge in economic operations in rural and semi-urban regions.

As a part of strategy, the company has decided to open new facilities in Bangalore, Rohtak Hissar, Una, Nawashehar and Amritsar in September this year. Opening of new showrooms and servicing facilities in metropolitans is also on the cards of GM.

Expressing his views on the development, the President and Managing Director of GM India, Lowell Paddock, quoted, “The new outlets will support our growing Chevrolet lineup across the country. This is part of GM India’s goal of expanding the accessibility of our products and becoming a volume player in the market. Like our existing state of the art facilities, our new sales points and service outlets will set benchmarks for sales, service and customer satisfaction.”

Industry experts believe that the move of the company can be also a hint of its prevailing launches as the company's much hyped Sail sedan and hatchback series can mark their presence in the country any time soon.
