Maruti Suzuki’s future cars will have better fuel efficiency and would emit less CO2. The company is working on new technologies to make this work.
As a result of being built on Maruti’s new platform, Heartect, both Baleno and the Dzire are already far safer and efficient than the other cars in their fleet. The Gurgaon-based manufacturer is also working on its current engines and transmission to make it more efficient. The company said that it has brought down the average CO2 emissions of its entire fleet by nearly 19 per cent since the last decade.
"Going forward, we will continue our focus on investing in new technologies and strengthen our capability to bring down emissions per vehicle by enhancing fuel efficiency of our cars," said CV Raman, executive director, engineering, Maruti Suzuki India.
"We work on platform strategy and keep rationalising them to offer better value to the customers like better fuel efficiency and better performance, which leads to reduction in emissions," he added.
