The worker’s strike at the Maruti Suzuki’s Manesar plant is over now, as management and workers have reached to a peace agreement. The latest amongst the series of strikes at Manesar plant by the unrecognized Maruti Suzuki Employees Union (MSEU) has now removed any possibility of the older union - Maruti Udyog Kamgar Union (MUKU) making inroads at the Manesar plant. The erstwhile powerful union MUKU at Manesar had no say in the recent talks between management and labor at Manesar plant as the new union MSEU has been opposing it having any say at the Manesar plant.

Moreover, the argument that is doing rounds among the MSEU workers is that because MUKU has been representing only Gurgaon factory workers and their welfare, it has no reason to be present at the Manesar plant.

Both of the 'grievance redressal committee' and 'labour welfare committee', which are being formed as per the agreement between MSEU and management, will have no representation from the MUKU’s side. These committees will have equal representation from worker’s and management’s side. In addition to this, a Labour Officer will be appointed from the state government’s side.

After over 14 days of impasse at the Manesar plant, the employees union and management finally reached to an agreement on Thursday, in the presence of state government.
