The B Segment of cars which consist of compact sedans and hatchbacks is growing rapidly in the country. Ford is already selling the Figo hatch in this segment which manages to get decent sales. With an intention to further increase its presence in this segment and reach to a wider audience, Ford India has unveiled their sub 4 metre compact sedan which is called the Figo concept.
The Figo Concept will be a global compact car which will offer advanced technology and clever design to India and other emerging markets. The company believes that the Figo Concept sedan will bring in a fresh trend of innovative technology, exciting design paired with great performance and efficient engine. The Figo Concept sedan is a compact sub 4 metre car which has been specially developed for countries India.
“With the Figo Concept, we are showing that choosing a compact sedan does not mean compromising on premium design or smart solutions,” said Kumar Galhotra, vice president of Engineering, Global Product Development, Ford Motor Company. “The Figo Concept stands out and surprises, offering a more premium and refined feel than you would expect in such a package.”
Post Ecosport, Ford has realized that making a Global car has many takers compared to a country spec car which limits its potential. The Figo Concept will mark Ford’s entry in the rapidly growing compact sedan market. The company states that the market of compact sedans will reach to 2 million units till 2018 which is double of the one done last year.
The Figo Concept sedan will have modern technology and at the same time will be very competitively priced. Pricing plays a key role in defining a product’s fate in the market. The Figo Concept will compete directly against the B-Segment compact sedan leaders Honda Amaze and Maruti Suzuki Swift DZire. The Amaze banked on the debut of the most anticipated diesel engine while the DZire holds a very heavy brand value behind it. The Figo Concept will offer many firsts in the segment along with being an impressively designed car. Ford plans to sell it as a Smarter Deal compared to anything else in the market.
