Ford will officially launch the Mustang for the Indian market on July 12. It had unveiled the car at the 2016 Auto Expo and will offer it in a single hardtop variant though it is possible that a convertible version too could arrive here later.
This generation of the sports car, has the stance from the fastback of the 1970s, face from the modern Ford design philosophy and of course the prancing mustang which has made the brand so famous.
Powering this iconic machine will be a 5.0-litre supercharged V8 mill producing 395bhp and 515Nm with power going to the rear wheels via a six-speed dual clutch AT. It will be offered here in India on in the GT hardtop variant though the convertible too maybe offered later.
Ford’s Mustang completed its 50th birthday in 2014 making it one of the longest running cars to be in production continuously. Up until this generation the car had always been an exclusive domain of LHD markets. However, in 2012 the Mustang became a part of the ‘One Ford’ global programme prompting Ford to announce that it would for the first time be produced in RHD also to expand its reach.
It will be launched here in a single variant via the CBU route and is expected to be priced in the range of Rs 50 lakh to Rs 70 lakh.
