American automaker Ford has issued a voluntary recall affecting over 8.30 lakh Ford vehicles in North America over the possibility of the doors being unlatched. The company believes that the affected vehicles will have pawl spring tab in the side door latch that might break, thereby preventing the door from latching. In certain situations it can also unlatch itself while driving thereby increasing the risk of injury. The door latches on the affected models will be replaced by the company at no additional cost and as part customer satisfaction campaign has also offered one-time latch replacement on their vehicle in case the component breaks even if it has not been a part of the recall.

Some of the affected states in the US include - California, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona, New Mexico, Nevada, Oklahoma, Texas, Utah, Oregon and Washington. Recently, Ford has introduced the new Mustang in India. However, the India- bound model being a 2016 make, is  reportedly not affected by this recall. Powered by a 5.0-litre V8 engine, the vehicle generates 395bhp of power and 515Nm of torque. The powerful engine comes mated to a six speed automatic transmission with various drive modes.
