The stylish and feature loaded compact SUV EcoSport from American automajor Ford has been a popular choice in India. Ford India has announced recall of around 16,444 Ecosport units over issues identified with the Rear Twist Beam (RTB) bolt. The lists of vehicles feature mostly those which were manufactured between November 2013 and April 2014.
Speaking more on the occasion, Ford India said in a statement, “ In some of the affected vehicles, there is a possibility that the Rear Twist Beam (RTB) bolt may not be tightened to specification, which may cause the pivot bolt to break.” The company is reportedly writing to 16,444 Ecosport customers asking them to approach nearest authorised dealership for inspection and get it repaired at no additional costs.
For now, no accidents have been reported so far over this issue. But ignoring the issue may probably increase the risk of an accident. As stated by PTI, with Ford's latest recall, over 13.25 lakh vehicles have been recalled by various manufacturers in India so far.
