The recently introduced new crossover segment of vehicles have caught the fancy of many in the country. Joining the bandwagon, this time around Ford has announced its plans to launch its very own crossover sometime soon based on the Figo hatchback. If launched, it could emerge as a strong competitor against Toyota’s Etios Cross, Hyundai i20 Active, Volkswagen Cross Polo, Fiat Avventura and the Maruti S-Cross.

The technical specification for Figo Cross is not known for now and it may be known at a later date. The current generation Figo comes with 1.2-litre Ti-VCT petrol engine that generates about 87 bhp of power and 112 Nm of torque, while the diesel comes with a 1.5 litre TDCi engine that generates about 99 bhp and 215 Nm of torque. Additionally the company also offers a 1.5-litre Ti-VCT petrol that generates about 110bhp of power and 136Nm of torque. The smaller petrol variant and the diesel variant comes mated to 5-speed manual transmission, while the bigger petrol trim comes mated to 6-speed automatic transmission.

In terms of features, the Figo crossover may likely be offered with features like MyFord Dock, SYNC infotainment system with Applink, power folding mirrors, Ford MyKey and automatic climate control. As for safety, it may be loaded with Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brake force Distribution (EBD), Hill Launch Assist and six airbags. Plans if any shall be known during the upcoming 2016 Auto Expo event in India.
