Ford, the American automaker, had launched the new Fiesta sedan in the Indian car market in 2014 with a diesel only powertrain. Though, the company might now launch the petrol model of the car in the country.
The Ford Fiesta petrol will get a 1.5-litre Ti-VCT engine that also powers the EcoSport SUV. This engine is capable of producing 109bhp of power and 140Nm of torque. If reports are to be believed, the company will also introduce the 6-speed powershift twin clutch automatic gearbox with the Fiesta petrol. This petrol unit with automatic gearbox is also available on the company's top-selling EcoSport SUV.
The petrol Ford Fiesta will take on the likes of the Volkswagen Vento TSI, Skoda Rapid, Fiat Linea T-Jet and Honda City i-VTEC. Expected to be launched by mid 2015, the Fiesta petrol will reaffirm the company's commitment to amuse auto enthusiasts of the nation,
Ford India is also planning to launch four new cars in the country this year including the Figo Aspire, new Figo, new Endeavour and the iconic Mustang. The Figo Aspire will first go on sale, and is likely to come in three-engine options - 1.2-litre petrol, 1.5-litre Ti-VCT and the 1.5-litre TDC-i. If reports are to be believed, the Aspire with 1.5-litre petrol engine will get automatic gearbox.
