American car maker Ford has been one of the pioneers of world automobile industry as it has made significant contributions. Over the years, the brand has worked consistently to develop technologies to make driving easier for customers. One technology that has earned a lot of accolades from critics and buyers across the globe has been Ford SYNC with Voice Control. A six-year period has passed since the introduction of this technology, during which the firm has received many awards. According to reports, Ford, long time ago, had recognised the growing need for mobile connectivity in cars among consumers. Thereby, in order to cater to this demand, the company started work on designing an intelligent technology that combines sensor data and cloud computing. Many experts believe that the success of Ford SYNC with Voice Control is based on its flexible platform.

Recognising the importance of mobile phone and media players in people's lives was critical to Ford's project. And to say the least, the team of engineers working on Ford SYNC have mapped this significance quite well. While designing this technology, architecture based on USB and Bluetooth, which are open protocols, for complete convenience of customers was created. Designing this technology has helped people travelling in cars to connect almost all devices for media playback and communication functions.

The famous automobile manufacturer reached a significant milestone recently when it rolled out the ten millionth car featuring this breakthrough technology. Analysts have complemented the brand for the transformation it has facilitated, taking the driving experience and comfort level to another level. It is being said that Ford has been able to successfully transcend technological barriers to connect with its customers, earning their loyalty.

Jim Farley, Executive Vice-President for Global Marketing, Sales and Service and Lincoln, Ford, spoke about this technology and what it means to the company. “SYNC was more than just a technology breakthrough, it has reshaped how we see ourselves as a company. SYNC has helped us to think and act more like a technology company. It has forever changed how we look at our business and how we respond to our customers. Ultimately, SYNC embodies what Ford is all about – going further to turn innovative ideas into products that are affordable, attainable and valuable to millions of people,” he was quoted as saying.

This technology was launched by Ford in India through the introduction of EcoSport model, which has performed exceptionally well. From an Indian perspective, this function has helped drivers with complete connectivity while on the move. Notably, this technology works without compromising on safety of the driver. With an aim to enhance the current level of comfort, Ford, according to reports, is going to introduce SYNC AppLink in India in 2014. Not only would this strengthen the firm's position in the country, experts feel it will reiterate Ford's commitment towards taking in-car technologies to greater heights by mapping consumer requirements.

Commenting further on this technology, Jim Farley said, “We have literally turned the car into a platform for app developers, who work with us to add value through new features delivered at the speed consumers expect. With more than 1 billion smartphones now in service around the world, we expect mobile connectivity will continue to be a foundational element of our strategy going forward.”
