      Ford India registers 9.45 percent increase in sales during September

      The Indian subsidiary of the US based leading car maker Ford Motors has registered a sales surge of 9.45 percent in the month of September 2011. The company managed to sell 10,270 units of its cars during this month as compared to 9,383 units sold in the same month last year. The newly launched Ford Fiesta and popular compact hatchback Ford Figo were the major contributors to company’s sales during this month.

      However, the company witnessed a decline of 6.9% in the domestic market with sales dipping to 7,801 units as compared to 8,380 units sold in the same month last year. The company exported a total of 2,469 units of its cars during the month of September 1,003 units dispatched to the overseas markets in the same month last year.

      In a recent statement, Ford India President and Managing Director Michael Boneham said, "The festival season is coming and Ford India has a lot to celebrate." He added that the company is currently working on enhancing the production of more diesel cars, in a bid to match the increased demand in the domestic market.

      In the first three quarters of this calendar year (Jan to September), the company has managed to sell 90,612 units as against 67,253 units sold in the same period last year, accounting for a sales surge of 35 percent.
