      Ford India domestic sales drop in June

      Ford India has registered a combined domestic wholesales and exports of 20,828 in the month of June, thus recording a dismal year on year growth of 5 per cent over same period last year when it managed to sell 19,754 vehicles.

      Although recording a cumulative year on year growth, the American carmaker recorded a drop of 35 per cent in the domestic sales in the month of June when it sold 6,149 vehicles as compared to 9,469 units in the same month last year. The exports, however, grew by 42 per cent as the carmaker exported 14,679 vehicles compared to 10,285 units in June 2016.

      Compared to the month of May, the domestic sales are down 593 units when the Blue Oval manage to sell 6,742 units. The compact crossover EcoSport is the volume seller for the carmaker averaging around 3600units every month.

      Anurag Mehrotra, managing director, Ford India, commenting on the sales in June, said, “GST is a step in the right direction, and expected to strengthen economic growth. Leading up to this biggest tax reform, the month of June saw moderated wholesales as the industry looked to protect itself from the possible impact.”
