As per a union official of the Indian unit of the US based leading carmaker Ford India, the 700 workers of the company who had been on a strike for more than 2 days, have now returned to work today. The agitating workers decided to return to work following conciliation meeting held between company management and the Ford India Employees Union (FIEU).

While speaking to IANS, Mr. K. Selvaraj, treasurer of FIEU, said, "As per the decision at the conciliation meeting, all the workers would resume their normal duties Thursday night shift onwards. However, normalcy will be attained Friday morning. The management has agreed not to take any punitive action against the absent workers. However, the firm would apply the principle of "No work, no pay" on the days they abstained from work."

More than 700 company workers went on strike on Wednesday, demanding the reinstatement of their 9 sacked colleagues. The production at the company’s Chennai plant remained affected till yesterday. It is expected that the firm will take a decision regarding the reinstatement of the suspended employees in the next round of meeting, today evening.
