The Ford Freestyle has been launched in India for an introductory price of Rs 5.09 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi). The latest product from Ford in India is available in four variants - Ambient, Trend, Titanium and Titanium+. Although the new cross hatchback is based on the Figo, the Freestyle gets muscular styling elements with more features and a new petrol engine.
Mechanically, the Freestyle is powered by the existing 1.5-litre engine that generates 99bhp of power and 215Nm of torque. The petrol version on the other hand is powered by the new 1.2-litre Dragon series naturally-aspirated petrol engine, which generates 94bhp of power and 120Nm of torque. Compared to the older 1.2-litre engine on the Figo, the new petrol generates an additional 7bhp of power and 8Nm of torque. As of now, both the engines get the five-speed manual transmission as standard.
Externally, the Freestyle gets new bumpers and stylish body bumpers that give it a sportier look. Additionally, the sporty hatchback also gets new silver roof rails and silver skid plates for a youthful charm. For a beefier look, the vehicle gets a high ground clearance of 190mm and sits on bigger 15-inch wheels. Step inside and you will find a charcoal black interior with dual tone seats in sienna and black. The car also gets a 6.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system which is compatible with SYNC3, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
As for safety, the Ford Freestyle gets front dual airbags and ABS with EBD as standard. The top spec Titanium+ boasts of six airbags, anti-rollover prevention system, HLA (Hill launch assist), ESP (Electronic Stability Program) and TCS (Traction Control System). Things do not end there, the company has also offered the emergency assistance feature, which in the event of an accident shuts down the fuel supply and automatically shares your GPS location with emergency contact numbers.
