Ford India, today, launched the much-awaited Aspire compact sedan at a starting price of Rs.4.89lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The Ford Aspire will rival the Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire, Tata Zest, Honda Amaze and Hyundai Xcent. The production of the compact sedan will be take place at the Ford’s Gujarat facility.
The Aspire is being offered in three engine options – a 1.2-litre TiVCT petrol, a 1.5-litre petrol and a 1.5-litre TDCi diesel. The 1.2-litre TiVCT petrol engine churns out a maximum power of 88bhp at 6,300rpm and 112Nm of torque at 4,000rpm, while the 1.5-litre TDCi diesel unit offers 99bhp and 215Nm. Both the engines are coupled with a 5-speed manual transmission, and return fuel efficiency of 18.16km/l and 25.83km/l respectively. On the other hand, the 1.5-litre Ti-VCT petrol engine delivers 110.4bhp at 6,300rp and 136Nm at 1,750rpm – 3,000rpm. Paired with a 6-speed ‘Powershift’ dual clutch automatic gearbox, it offers a maximum mileage of 17km/l.
Features like MID display for the gear shift indicator, tilt steering, manual AC, electric boot release, front power windows, fabric seats, auto door lock function, maintenance warning, guide me home headlamps, dual front airbags, engine immobilizer, front and rear seatbelts, keyless entry, door ajar warning, etc come as standard. While the Ford MyKey and Emergency Assistance, SYNC with voice control and AppLink system, 4.2 MFD screen for the infotainment system, leather upholstered seats and 6 airbags are offered only on the top-end Titanium + variant.
On the outside, the compact sedan features Aston-Martin inspired grille, large swept-back headlights, 14-inches, 7-spoke alloy wheels, silver chromed diffuser on rear bumper, integrated ORVMs and large tail-lamp cluster. With powerful engines, aerodynamic design and short turning radius, the Ford Aspire offers excellent city drivability and handling.
