Ford has added anti-lock braking system (ABS) and electronic brake-force distribution (EBD) in the Trend variants of both the Figo and Aspire. These features are now offered as standard safety equipment apart from the dual front airbags that were already on offer.
With the standardisation of these safety features in the hatchback and the compact sedan, Ford has upped the safety quotient of both models. However, the Base and the Ambiente versions still miss out on this equipment.
On the other hand, the top-spec Titanium and Titanium+ variants already get all these safety features. Ford hasn't announced any price hike or revision as of yet and we expect the new lot of vehicles to come equipped with these features.
This move is in regard to the Indian Government's plan of making airbags and ABS a standard feature in cars in future. Many manufacturers have started offering passive and active safety features across different variants of models in their line-up. Some manufacturers like Volkswagen have straightaway standardised safety features across all models in their portfolio.
