Ford has finally announced the launch of Figo Sports and Aspire Sports in the country at Rs 6.31 lakh and Rs 6.50 lakh (Ex-showroom, Delhi), respectively. Mechanically, the cars will continue to be powered by existing engine options, while changes have been limited to cosmetic upgrades. The Sports edition models are based on the Titanium trim and will be available in petrol and diesel guise.
In an effort to distinguish the Sports edition cars from a regular one, Ford has introduced a black fishnet grille and smoked, swept back headlamps. These cars get bolder and bigger bumpers with sportier sculpted lines along with black cladding around the round fog lamps. To offer that sporty quotient, Ford has given the vehicle black treatment all around in the form of wide 15-inch black alloy wheels, blackened roof and glossy black OVMs with integrated turn signal lights. The cars get ‘S’ decals on the sides, while the rear now comes with a spoiler. The Ford Figo and Aspire Sports Editions are available in five and seven exciting colours respectively, ranging from ruby red, sparkling gold, oxford white and tuxedo black to deep impact blue, ingot silver and smoke grey.
The Sports edition of the Figo and the Aspire is available with 1.2-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engines which puts out 87bhp/113 Nm and 99bhp/215Nm of peak torque, respectively. Both the engines come mated to a five-speed manual transmission. However, the bigger 1.5-litre petrol engine with DCT that generates 110bhp is not available in the Sports edition models. Interestingly, the new models have reportedly received a re-tuned suspension system for better drive quality.
As for the interior, the Sports edition of the Figo and the Aspire get an all-black premium quality upholstery. The cars get leather-wrapped steering wheel and use contrast coloured seam. The seats in the Figo get red stitching, while the Aspire features fog grey stitching. The automaker claims that the cars have been offered with powerful automatic climate control system which is capable of bringing down the cabin temperature of a vehicle parked in hot sun to less than 25 degrees in less than 15 minutes. With regard to safety, the Sports edition cars get dual front driver and passenger airbags, along with ABS and EBD as standard.
