Ford India, due to cancellation of additional excise duty concession, has silently hiked the price of the 2014 Fiesta sedan by Rs. 89, 000. The central government had cut down subsidized excise duty rate to 8 percent from the 12 percent that made automakers increase prices of their products. Almost all the carmakers in India including Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, Honda, Toyota etc have already increased the prices of their entire range. The new Fiesta is now priced within the range of Rs. 8.5 lakh – Rs. 10.18 lakh, which was earlier available at Rs. 7.69 lakh – Rs. 9.29 lakh (All prices are ex-showroom, Delhi).
The price hike discussion might not favour the car’s sale, which is already going thorough poor sales. And there are a plenty of new options like - new Maruti Ciaz and Honda City in the segment. Very soon the 2015 Hyundai Verna facelift will enter the market making things even tougher for Ford Fiesta.
Talking about the engine, the new Fiesta is powered by a 1.5-litre diesel engine that delivers a maximum power of 90bhp with 204Nm, and returns an impressive 25.1kmpl of mileage. The engine comes mated to a five-speed manual gearbox. The sedan is offered with several exciting features. The standard features are driver airbag, ABS with EBD, remote locking, driver seat height adjustment, electrically adjustable ORVs, guide-me-home headlamps, split-folding rear seats etc.
